The beginning!

I should start this blog by explaining a few things. First, the "why". I have Lupus and have been on steroids A LOT. I gained about 100 pounds from them in less than a year. I also have arthritis and osteoperoisis. I've had 5 back surgeries, one of which left my left ankle and foot paralyzed. Because of this exersize is not much of an option for me. I can't run, bike, or walk very far.

I recently had my doctor reccomend the book "Eat to Live" by Dr. Joel Fuhrman. The book describes how the foods that we eat cause the diseases that American's are affected by. It describes the effects of eating animal products as well. Also, many foods that we eat are inflammatory, which is really bad for people with inflammatory diseases (such as Lupus).

I am 30 years old, I'm married, and I have a 6 year old daughter. I know that I need to change right now, or I probably never will! This isn't a "diet". This is a permanent change in how I approach eating, how I view food, and hopefully how I feel!
